I think you already heard this news that support for PHP version 4.x.x will be discontinued. This is a very good step for the PHP community, and I think that everyone (I heard that Drupal supports this) would support this move. This could reduce
confusion in a lot of things such as i.e. coding standards,
and help PHP developers become more aware of the developments in PHP 5.x.x.
